Phoenix Bike Week Group Rides - Ride to the Ball Park

Mayor Stanton warming up team Bike Phoenix, and wearing the official Bike Week t-shirt
provided all the riders.
Bike Week in Phoenix kicked off with a Sunday morning group ride lead by Mayor Stanton (and Phoenix PD) from Steele Indian School Park down 3rd Street to Chase Field to watch the Diamondbacks - Dodgers game.  Bob and I attended as a way to show support for Phoenix Spokes People's bike advocacy efforts and to take advantage of an excuse to consume unhealthful stadium food post-ride.  Since the weather was perfect, the event enjoyed a great turn out, and plenty of media attended to cover it as well.

This couple on cruisers was being prepped with microphone for a media interview.
Phoenix Spokes People Joey and Lisa Parks manned the PSP/Bike Lab table as advocacy never takes a vacay.

Bike dates.  Right after I took this shot this couple exchanged a big kiss.  Damn, I missed it.
There were plenty of families with bike trailers and child seats.
A sea of safety green as riders lined up to roll.

This family friendly ride actually provided a great argument for Danish-style mandatory bicycle safety training in
elementary school.  All I can say is "Watch out!"  There were a lot of near collisions between child riders and adult riders.
Bob's glamour shot of the day.
At a brief stop at a red light.
