Pretty Things

Made a trip to Red Thread after work on my bike early this past week to pick up some alternations from Jenn, my seamstress.  Outside the studio, fellow seamstress Tina had parked her pretty, 7-speed vintage bike.

After a long chat with Jenn about financial reform (who knew she was such a policy wonk?), I rode home in a light and refreshing rain.  This rainbow followed me all the way home.

Love the bike! Seems to nicely bridge form and function.

Don't parts of your bike rust riding in the rain? I am completely paranoid of water, and have been meticulous about drying my bike the few times it was rained on and still my chain corroded! What is that all about? It's a Giant Sedona DX, not a "cheap" bike, but no $3K model.

That is a nice colour, I like that shade of pink. In Boston I see some Schwinns in that shade, but they are usually a lot more beat up!

I should be paranoid about water, Barbara, as much as it has been raining lately. The chain in my usual ride is fully encased in a chainguard to it is very protected from the elements.

Hah! I thought your post title "Dark and Stormy" was about the drink. Maybe you should have ordered one? :)

Jen, I'll tell Beer Ranger Grant that New Belgium needs a Dark and Stormy brew in honor of our weather - its not looking good today, although my determined husband is doing a 4.5 hour training ride none the less.
