I know my husband, the Planner Guy, aka The Running Bob, loves me. He spent almost the entire July 4 weekend and the weekend before working on our backyard, so concerned was he after 3 years in our house the barren state of our backyard might be bringing me down just a touch - not that he does not have definite ideas about how we should landscape our rear yard and advocate for it passionately! But it was with love and caring in his heart that he worked tirelessly to bring our dreams of a backyard paradise, complete with an green area specifically for croquet matches.
So it was with similar love and caring that Bob carried out a spontaneous but stealth plan to a smile to my face, and a shocked scream of surprise from my throat. Call it an early (and completely undeserved) early Christmas and Birthday present combined.
I will not say exactly how he carried out his surprise, which I found in the guest bedroom buried over a pile of clean laundry, mostly his, that he been hoping and praying I would one day iron (he cooks, I iron). Earlier in the day, standing in Absolute Bikes over the Breezer Uptown 8 (ruby red) where I pay weekly homage, he casually asked asked me if I liked the size of the floor model. His curiosity completely escaped me. I thought he was there to look for a road bike for his pending Mountain Man triathlon.
As with the landscaping and small croquet field, the Planner Guy possessed strongly held opinions about not only the saddle and stem height but also about how I should post this most recent tale of bike love. Since I have recently been reassured by an unrelated matter, Bob knows a thing or two and his honest opinions are delivered straight from the hip to the people he loves. What follows is a pictorial of my bike fitting experience this morning at Absolute Bikes.

What an awesome gift! Pretty bike!
Hooray! That new bike looks awesome on you!
Very nice bike!
Wow, congrats! I love the Breezer Uptown. I look forward to reading all about your adventures together.
Your post of Bob's picture with the food made me HUNGRY!! Everything on the plates were healthy choices too.
A little clarification is necessary; Planner Guy actually got the Breezer for me "just because". It was a spontaneous gift because he has seen me moon over it a lot. I deemed it my early birthday/Christmas present - mostly because I felt fairly undeserving of such a great gift this week.
Second, yes, Bob dinner creation shown above was healthly and delicious: grilled shrimp and scallops, black bean, wild rice and salad. I eat like this all the time. Pretty sweet!
